Bailey knows and understands. I often had the same feelings with Grace. But, you would never want to changa the timing. That would mean you never would have had Bailey...and he never would have had you. You're doing great at being a mommy to both "kids."

And i too said we'd wait several years before getting a dog again. And we have 2 now wothhin a year of Grace's passing. Because something just wasn't right without a dog around. And i am SO glad that my kids have their dogs to love on. They love them sooooooo very much as toddlers.

As for the rest of the post. Once again i love reading about other mom's feelings and insights on child-rearing. And you will find...that despite their plastic nature...those toys are a Godsend. Especially if you should ever choose to have another kiddo. ;)

A friend of mine is due in April. This last December, she posted on Facebook that she really wanted a puppy. Luckily, about two dozen people (myself included, emphatically) responded with "NOOOOOO! No!" and she didn't get one. I usually don't tell pregnant people or new parents advice (because what do I know, especially having never been in that situation), but I'd seen enough friends with dogs who'd had children to know what, understandably happens. And to think of it being a puppy? Oh my no. NO.

Your post was endearing and wonderful. Bailey knows you love him, and I bet that over this next year, he'll begin to bond more with Benjamin.
