Weekend

Hello My Dears.

I hope you are having a terrific weekend.

This is a working weekend for us: so far we’re discovering the joys of hanging sheetrock.

That was a joke. It is not a joyful process.

But we’re making progress so that is a good thing.

Benjamin is going through an extremely rough patch on the sleep front.  I realized last night that we’ve reverted back to new-born levels of nightly sleep (which means that he’s up 4+ times). Which would be ok except that I haven’t dialed back my daily outings and activities in relation to our nightly feedings. In my humble opinion, I see these two as directly proportional: daily activities should decrease right along with the number of hours of sleep per night. When Ben was just a wee little one, we were basically in lock-down mode: we didn’t leave the house, I took as many naps as possible, and I went to bed at 8 pm.

I looked at my pasty, drawn face in the mirror this morning and decided that I need to slow down, do less, and get more sleep.

more sleep = happier mama

Pardon my rudimentary math. It’s about all I’m capable of at the moment.

You should have seen me trying to do simple sums yesterday while doing our construction project. It was not my best day.

The poor kiddo is having a rough time as well: another tooth popped through yesterday. He’s also shunning regular food in favor of his old milk standby. I’ve been tempting his with lots of lovely goodies but he clams up quicker than quick and refuses to budge despite my entreaties. I haven’t pushed the matter but… I would like for him to begin eating again. And sleeping. That would be nice, too.

The kiddo is thisclose to crawling. I think. There is lots of backwards sliding (as evidenced, above), lots of practice on hands and knees, and this lovely rocking motion that makes him look like a drunk bear. It’s pretty comical and has thus far provided hours of entertainment for the whole family.
