Pond Water

When was the last time you took a peek at a sample of water from your local pond? Last month? Last year? Ever? Ponds are in rather short supply here in the Pacific Southwest so we have a rather small window of opportunity for viewing ponds. Thankfully, our local mudhole is currently brimming with both water and critters. One quart of water yielded at least two types of pollywogs (or one species, some more developed than others), mosquito larvae, strange pink wigglers, and many, many more unidentified (at least by me) critters. This is my strange pink wiggler. My camera takes remarkable poor pictures at close range so this rather fuzzy photo will have to suffice.
