I've previously discussed our favorite 'big' park in the Seattle area: St. Edward's State Park. It's big enough to get a decent hike in and it's always fun to look across the lake and spot my parent's house. I had grand plans this summer to swim across the lake with my dad (about a mile) but somehow that grand idea never came to fruition. Maybe because I decided that I'd lose all movable appendages due to the freezing temperatures. At least that's what I told myself. Maybe next summer.
Regardless, the family went for a nice jaunt at St. Ed's a few weeks back. Bailey enjoys the forest and the water, and if you go early enough, you can avoid the urban hordes that often descend mid-morning. It helps to have a spouse that jumps out of bed every morning at 5:30. I crawled out sometime later and we enjoyed a deserted beach and trail.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiihSy0OPYihN6-PURj7ro5tDDcfmAQH7Zo_SdhXHS87Q7QOaNQRBTEfN20J4zP664wP5d7tC0bxS4hK70Z8nZruhLWwvB8IAUuQh81Y1tctAajCj0aUap0NONbpp7Q58xs8LRh/s400/DSC_2791.JPG)
