A Sad Day

Ok, so it's only a sad day if you were cheering for the Brits and the Brazilians in the World Cup. Not only did both teams lose (to Portugal and France, respectively) but Becks (above) stepped down as team captain for England. Funny, at the start of the cup, most experts were agreeing that the Copa Mundial would likely be dominated by South American Teams; instead, it has turned into a showcase of European talent. I am now switching my allegiance to Portugal, as I'm not especially thrilled about France, Italy or Germany, although Portugal is not favored as the ultimate winner. Chris watched the Germany game and decided that he wasn't really a big fan of the team after they started faking injuries to slow down the game and to draw fouls. He realizes that most of the team (and players) do this but he thought Germany, and in particular, their captain, was the most blatantly obvious in this regard. Here's to hoping that Germany can't top Italy on July 4th.
