Chris and I are having a discussion about the pros and cons of stating an opinion on our blog. Until now, the blog has been devoted exclusively to daily activities. However, both of us are fairly opinionated and we're trying to decide if it would be fair to state beliefs that might offend some of our readers. On the other hand, it's really hard sometimes not to take a stand. Besides, you can only post so many pictures of Bailey before it gets a bit old. So that's the current debate. Some of our friends have solved this problem by providing links to other websites, like the One Campaign, or posting to other blogs. We'll keep you updated.

Well, speaking as someone who doesn't practice what I preach, I'll note that the stated opinion is not interesting without knowing the reasons underneath those opinions.
People ofter find common ground on the goals and reasons, if not the particular stand.
People without opinions are not terribly interesting. I know You can state yours without being a jerk about it.--Karin

I agree with what Karin said--I like to hear others' opinions, and I think they can be especially interesting when they are different from my own. It would be neat to hear more about your perspective on things you feel strongly about.

  3. You guys forget that it is in fact your blog therefore write and say what you want to say. There are ways of stating your opinions without being offensive too. Just be open to a dialog. Only rarely do I get weird comments about what I write on my blog and then usually it is by someone who is just so angry at the world that they haven't really read what I have written. Let your voices ring out!

  4. Thank you for the comments! I love feedback. I think part of the problem we're having is that we don't want to alienate any friends who find the content unappealing. We really want people to read the blog. I think also, personally, I'm better at expressing opinions in person rather than in writing. Sometimes a written paragraph doesn't come across in the way that it would if I'd have spoken it. We're going back to our debate tonight and we'll keep you posted. Thank you so much for commenting, I greatly appreciate your feedback!

  5. I think writing opinions is great. It sparks healthy debate. :) And Brian and I are always up for a great debate. Also...things that you find interesting or have an opinion on may bring up discussions for other people that they may not have otherwise thought to discuss. I know your information on "An Inconvenient Truth" caused Brian and I to watch the movie and discuss a lot of environmental issues.

So I say bring on the will be fun!
