DIY Toddler Bed

I’d like to say that Ben’s toddler bed was a joint effort between Chris and me but that would be omitting the fact that Chris constructed it entirely by himself.

I sketched out a rough design and did the paint job. So let’s be fair: This was Chris’ labor of love.

You’ll remember that the bed started out with only the upper part enclosed (click here and then scroll down to see the first prototype). Unfortunately, Ben kept rolling off the bed in the middle of the night. We’d come in to see how he was doing and find a little sleeping babe huddled on the floor.

No good.

So we hauled it down to the garage and Chris added the footbed surrounds.

And it was our kind of price: we already had the wood, nails, caulk, and paint. If you thought the exterior looked remarkably like the wall color of our master bedroom and the interior closely resembled our closet color, well, then you’d be right.

And last but not least, this is what in-home photo shoots look like in our house.

Pure chaos.
