From the ruins of neglect

Despite an entire season of abandonment, the garden actually managed to produce some pretty stellar stuff. Example #1: Monster Beet (and his normal-sized buddy).

We're also getting some nice carrots and the kale is looking scrumptious. Which is a very good thing as we had a midwife appointment yesterday and my iron stats are relatively low. Not surprising for a pregnant woman in her second trimester, but it would be nice if increased iron levels did away with some of the wooziness and faint feelings. Not the end of the world - but Ben is highly inconvenienced; he's ready to swap out this always-tired mom for someone who is willing to play trains 24-hours a day.
