Last night my mom made the most amazing seafood gumbo. Fish, scallops, shrimp, sausage, red peppers and okra. I had it again for lunch today and it was just as terrific the second time around. It got me thinking about all the delicious foods out there that I’ve never been brave enough to tackle in the kitchen.
For example, I love the italian pasta dish frutti di mare (another ocean-based concoction) but the thought of messing up all those fantastic (and expensive!) ingredients has made this an only-order-in-the-restaurant meal for me. But now I’m feeling emboldened. You only live once, right?!
What foods out there have you always wanted to make but haven’t had either the time, courage, or inclination?
PS: Ben’s birthday cake from last year. It was awesome. And easy. I think we’re going to go for a repeat performance of the Trader Joe’s Chocolate Torte this year too. Why mess with a good thing?
